Travel to Atlanta

On September 6-17, some High School students from our school in Barcelona traveled to Atlanta (Georgia) for the second consecutive year of exchange with Fideles Christian School. On this trip, they were accompanied by two chaperones: Brother Enrique and Angels.

It was a very positive experience in every way: the students were able to enjoy the city of Atlanta. First, they visited the Capitol where a guide explained in detail the history of the building and also how the Georgia State Senate and Congress work. Afterwards, the students could take a tour of this Olympic city and take different photos of the most famous buildings. After eating at a typical American restaurant, they were able to visit the Coca-Cola Museum where they could taste many of the products that are made there.

Another excursion included the village of Dahnolega (which means yellow in the Cherokee Indian language). There they could visit the Gold Rush Museum and in the afternoon they could visit the famous Amicalola Falls and enjoy a walk through the forest to the very top of the Falls.

Being two weekends there, the students and chaperones were also able to enjoy various experiences organized by the host families that included many places of interest in Georgia and also enjoy various typical sports such as baseball and American football.

Of course, for some days the students were able to attend several classes in English accompanied by the youngster of the host family. They also prepared a presentation in English of various topics that on the last Friday, they presented in different classes. The American teenagers were impressed by the good level of English of our students.

Finally, on September 17th the group came back giving thanks to God for the happiness that this beautiful experience produced in all our students, and for the fact that they returned safely to Barcelona.
