Educational Style

From the subjects that the students take in secondary school we pay special attention to those of the linguistic field, which enable them to understand and express what they learn and to argue their own point of view.

School projects adapted to ESO:

  • Multilingual project: It means we use Catalan, Spanish and English in an equitable way throughout Secondary Education.
  • Reading Plan Project: It aims to promote reading and comprehension, and oral and written expression. Specific work is done with reading books in all linguistic subjects -one per term-, and in other four non-linguistic subjects.
  • ICT project: We work with information and communication technologies in the different subjects so that the student can accredit the digital competence ACTIC at the end of the stage. Students have a personal laptop as a working tool for half of the subjects and work with digital books or the teacher's own resources. The specific course of computer science is implemented in 3rd. And 4th. year of Secondary School. In the rest of the subjects, digital activities are carried out.
  • ONMAT project: We use ONMAT as a platform for pedagogical innovation in mathematics. In addition, in 1st. and 2nd. ESO we divide the class in groups to reduce the number of students per class. We participate in external tests and contests (Cangur).
  • “Heartbeat” project, inwardness workshop: It is a proposal for personal and spiritual growth, based on intrapersonal work and knowledge of oneself. There are three types of workshops: relaxation, visualization and silence. They do one session of sixty minutes every fortnight throughout the stage.
  • Robotics project: As a continuation of Primary school, robotics is carried out in the four Secondary courses using the resources of Lego and Arduino in the subjects of Technology and Robotics.

From the Guidance Department we follow up those students with learning difficulties, always in communication with the teachers and families. Regarding newly arrived students in Catalonia a personalized reinforcement of the languages, Spanish and Catalan, is carried out in the class periods of these subjects. Besides, this department is responsible for managing the following:

  • Me-Orienta Project: It is a specific program to discover and guide the skills of Secondary students. They have personal, formative and professional guidance taken from Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. 4th grade Secondary students do specific work to discover their talent that will provide them orientation to choose the studies and profession according to their potential and the place where they fit.

Learning foreign languages

Our linguistic project makes our school as a multilingual school.

English is the school's first foreign language.

The second foreign language is French, which they continue after the last two years of Primary school in the four years of ESO.

For this learning to be meaningful we introduce:

  • Curricular subjects in English, different according to the courses.
  • Native conversation teachers in the subjects of English and technology.
  • Specific outings to promote the language:
  • "Let's go USA" project in 1st ESO for three days.
  • Project "School Integration" in Brighton for 2nd ESO students for one week.
  • Project "Lyon"; for 3rd ESO students for one week.
  • Oxford certificate of English which is carried out at our school Sagrado Corazón to accredit levels B1 and B2.
  • Possibility of taking the Dual Baccalaureate to obtain both the Spanish Baccalaureate and the American High School degree.
